Rekha Gupta government of Delhi has started making full preparations for Chhath festival this year. This time a grand and historic Chhath Puja is going to be organized at more than 1300 ghats in the capital. On this occasion, Lieutenant Governor Vinay Kumar Saxena and Art, Culture and Language Minister Kapil Mishra jointly inspected Vasudev Ghat and gave strict instructions to the officials that all the arrangements for the devotees should be complete and on time.
Officials have been asked to pay special attention to cleanliness, lighting, security and traffic arrangements so that the devotees do not face any kind of problem. Senior officials of Delhi Government, Municipal Corporation and many departments were also present during the inspection.
This will be the grandest event ever – Kapil Mishra
Minister Kapil Mishra said that this year the celebration of Chhath Puja in Delhi is going to be the biggest and grandest event till date. He said, “Our aim is that the people of Delhi should celebrate Chhath festival in a clean, safe and cultural environment. Along with the Lieutenant Governor, we saw the preparations at the ghats and ordered the officials to ensure that there is no shortage.”
‘This government is not going to say, it is going to do’
He further said that the government of Chief Minister Rekha Gupta is not a government of say, but a government of do. Kapil Mishra said that this is the first Chhath Puja under the leadership of CM Rekha Gupta and this time permission has been given to worship in the traditional way on the banks of Yamuna. This is a proud moment for the people of Delhi and especially the Purvanchal society.
‘The previous government banned Chhath Puja’
Kapil Mishra also said that the previous government had insulted the Purvanchal society by banning Chhath Puja. He said, there was a ban on performing Chhath Puja on the banks of Yamuna for six years, but this will not happen now. Now the Delhi government stands with every devotee. Now there is no restriction, but Chhath festival will be celebrated with respect and pride.

This time Chhath Puja is being organized in Delhi with complete preparation, cleanliness and security. Arrangements like lighting, tents, barricading, medical facilities and water level control at the ghats have been made better than before. Delhi government says that this time Chhath festival will not only be a symbol of religious faith, but will also be a celebration of the unity and cultural diversity of Delhi.
