On Saturday (July 26, 2025), there was a stir among the security agencies with the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT), who is considered to be the heart of Mumbai, when an unknown person threatened to bomb the station. The threatening person clearly stated that the bomb would be placed at the station, which could threaten the lives of the passengers.
Call in Maharashtra Police’s DGP office
This call was made directly to the DGP office of Maharashtra Police, after which the entire security system was alerted. As soon as the information was received, the Mumbai Police, Railway Police and Bomb disposal squad surrounded the station premises and conducted a intensive search operation. No suspicious item was found in the search operation which lasted for about two hours, due to which a sigh of relief has been taken at the moment, but the security system has been tightened more than before. The police has also intensified the monitoring of CCTV footage in the station and surrounding areas.
Police registered a case
In relation to the threat, the Colaba Police Station has registered a case under the related sections of the IPC and the help of cyber cell is being taken to find the identity and location of the collar.
Cases of threatening to bomb bomb
In recent months in the country, there has been a rapid increase in cases of bomb threats. Threats are being given through phone calls, emails or letters targeting the major railway stations, airports, schools, hospitals and government offices. However, most of the threats in these cases have proved to be fake. It also remains a serious challenge for law and order.
