There is a provision of mid-day meal on behalf of the government to get rich nutrients to poor children, but various negligence and incidents keep coming about mid-day meal. The latest case is of the government residential school in Sukma district of Chhattisgarh, where a teacher has allegedly added phenyl in the food of a student.
The police have arrested Dhananjay Sahu, assistant teacher of Porta Cabin School in this case. After the matter came to light, the students’ lives were saved, because the food was thrown out in time.
How did the incident come to light?
The incident took place on August 21, when vegetables were prepared for dinner at Porta Cabin School in Pakela village. According to PTI, according to the complaint, Sahu added phenyl in the food due to personal enmity with Hostel Superintendent Dujal Patel.
When an employee investigated the smell of food, empty bottles of phenyl were found nearby. He immediately informed the Superintendent and the food was safely destroyed.
Action and investigation
The hostel superintendent informed the senior officials about the incident. After this, the District Magistrate of Sukma ordered an inquiry. On confirming the role of Sahu in the report, the Superintendent lodged a complaint with the Chhindgarh police station. Police arrested Dhananjay Sahu on Wednesday and questioned. In the initial investigation, the accused admitted that he had taken this step due to personal differences with the superintendent.
Legal action and next step
A case has been registered against Dhananjay Sahu, who is originally a resident of Patra village in Durg district, under Section 109 (attempt to murder) of the Indian Justice Code (BNS).
At present, the police is conducting a thorough investigation into the case and is also trying to find out whether anyone else is involved in the incident. Officials have clarified that if action was not taken in time, this incident could have turned into a big tragedy.
