Chhindwara: Youth Congress burnt effigy of Election Commission, 4 policemen scorched due to fire

In Chhindwara, Madhya Pradesh, the Youth Congress burnt the effigy of the Election Commission at Fountain Chowk in the city on Sunday (September 21) to protest the vote theft. During this time, a sudden fire broke out due to the activists spraying petrol on the effigy and four policemen got scorched in the grip of it.

SI Narayan Baghel has been seriously injured in the accident, while Prior Yuvraj Raghuvanshi, constable Sagar Dehria and Vikas Bais also got scorched. There was chaos on the spot after the incident. The policemen were trying to extinguish and remove the effigy, when the fire suddenly intensified.

Did not take permission to perform

SP Ajay Pandey reached the district hospital and got to know about the injured. Police has started the investigation of the matter. Kotwali TI said that the Youth Congress had not taken any approval from the administration for this movement. The SDM office also confirmed that the movement was not allowed. Without performing permission, it falls under the category of crime. A case has been registered in other relevant sections along with using force on the police and putting flammable substances.

Case filed against 18 workers

Police has registered a case against 18 Congress workers regarding this incident. These include Golu Raghuvanshi, Eklavya Ahake, Umesh Chauhan, Arpit Tiwari, Abhishek Gupta, Babla Patel, Animesh Malvi, Gaurav Parte, Javed Khan, Abhi Mehra, Purnima Verma, Hansa Dadha, Karthik Chaudhary, Sarla Sisodia, Sarita Kanaujia, Shakti Dole, Mohit Raghuvanshi and Satish Rai. All these have been registered under sections 132, 121 (1), 189 (1) (b), 287, 223 and 3 (5) BNS.
