China angry over America’s airstrike in Venezuela, supports UN emergency meeting, warns Trump too

China has issued a stern warning to America regarding America’s attack on Venezuela and the arrest of its President Nicolas Maduro. China’s Foreign Ministry called it a serious violation of international law and basic norms of international relations. China said, ‘Such action violates Venezuela’s sovereignty and poses a threat to peace and security in Latin America and the Caribbean region.’

There should be an emergency meeting of UN Security Council: China

Beijing said, ‘We call on all parties to respect Venezuela’s right to freely choose its development and work to restore stability and order there. China supports emergency meeting of the UN Security Council to discuss US military attacks on Venezuela. China is ready to work with the international community to safeguard the UN Charter and the fundamental principles of international justice.

‘No matter what happens we will remain friends’

China bluntly said that no matter what changes occur in the international scenario, it will always remain a good friend and ally of Latin American and Caribbean (LAC) countries. There is continuity and stability in China’s policy on the LAC region. China said, ‘We adhere to the principle of non-interference in the internal affairs of other countries. We respect the choice of the people of LAC and never draw the line on the basis of ideological differences.

We do not target anyone to increase influence: China

The Chinese Foreign Ministry said, ‘China-LAC cooperation is based on the principles of equality and mutual benefit. We never seek sphere of influence nor target any party. China, establishing diplomatic relations with LAC countries, strengthening strategic trust, supporting each other on issues related to our core interests and major concerns, including national sovereignty, security and territorial integrity.

China has made a big bet on Venezuela

China’s tension has increased after America’s action on Venezuela because it has a lot at stake in Venezuela. China has given loans and other financial assistance worth about $105.6 billion to Venezuela. Caracas opened its doors to China long ago. Last year, Chinese President Xi Jinping had promised a credit line of $9.2 billion for the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC). There are 33 countries in CELAC organization.
