China had decided to ban Samarium, Gadolinium, Yitriyum, DysproSium, Terbium, Scandium and Lutetium in American exports of these seven rare economies. They are used extensively in defense and automobile sector. These are useful in making from electric motors to aerospace components. In view of the growing tariff war between the two countries, China took this step to pressurize and influence the US economy.
Relaxation on trade between the two countries
Trump also told Trump that officials of America and China will meet in London on Monday, June 9 and discuss trade between the two countries.
Trump wrote in a post on Truth Social, “I am happy to say that Treasury Secretary Scott Besant, Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnik and America’s business representative and Ambassador Jamison Greer will talk on the trade deal with Chinese officials in London on Monday, June 9, 2025.”
Long conversation on phone between Trump-Jinping
It was announced on Thursday after a 90 -minute talks between Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping. After this phone call, Trump said that he feels that the ongoing tension between the two countries can be resolved soon.
Earlier, there was a meeting between the officials of the two countries in Geneva on 12 May. During this time, both of them had informed about the high tariffs imposed on each other to a great extent. The result of this meeting was that the US reduced the tariff on sugar imports from 145 to 30 percent. In return, China also reduced tax on American imports by 125 percent to 10 percent.
