China may carry out dangerous operation against Taiwan, this report increases America’s tension!

Just as America has kept its eye on Venezuela and Greenland, in the same way China has its eye on Taiwan. China forcibly takes over Taiwan. However, Taiwan considers itself a separate independent country. The way America took action against Venezuela, there were speculations that China could also do the same with Taiwan. Regarding this, John Dotson, director of the Global Taiwan Institute (GTI), has warned that the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) can conduct more aggressive and major operations around Taiwan.

The report increased Taiwan’s tension

According to local media, PLA will gain the capability to capture Taiwan by 2027. Ann Kowalewski, a senior non-resident fellow at GTI, said that 2026 is the last year for China’s PLA to reach this capability, Taiwan’s daily newspaper Taipei Times reported. GTI organized a panel discussion titled ‘Thinking Forward for Taiwan Policy in 2026’ in Washington. The GTI highlights China’s increasing pressure against Taiwan in 2025, including the PLA’s ‘Justice Mission 2025’ military exercises. Analysts stressed that 2027 could mark a turning point in cross-Strait relations.

He reminded that in 2021, the then US Indo-Pacific Command chief Admiral Philip Davidson had warned that Xi Jinping had instructed the PLA to be prepared for a possible attack on Taiwan by 2027. Kovalevsky said that much political analysis shows that they are not quite there yet.

‘PRC’s military capability may increase’

He said, ‘This year we can see a huge increase in the military capability of the PRC. It is not clear whether Taiwan and the United States can enhance their military capabilities or think of unique ways to ensure that they can maintain the balance of power in a stable region without discrimination.

Dotson said PLA military exercises in April and December took place near the main island south and southeast of Taiwan and involved more aggressive use of the Chinese coast guard. He said that deploying the Coast Guard completes China’s narrative. China can be justified as a law enforcement patrol rather than a military incursion.

The director of GTI said that China often offers a kind of narrative justification for its military exercises. For example, Taiwan’s President William Lai was held responsible for the policy adopted regarding Chinese incursions in March, while the US package of arms sales to Taiwan in December last year was also cited as the reason for similar exercises. This information has come to light in the report of Taipei Times.

‘Large-scale military exercises are planned first’

The GTI director cast doubt on these claims and said that military exercises on such a large scale are planned well in advance and not in response to any immediate incident. Earlier this month, Taiwan’s National Security Bureau accused the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) of conducting military drills around Taiwan, carrying out cyber attacks, spreading more than 19,000 controversial messages and making millions of hacking attempts.

Taiwan’s daily newspaper Taipei Times reported that these activities are part of China’s broader strategy to increase pressure on Taiwan. In a report to the Legislative Yuan, the agency said the online activity involved 799 strange accounts and was focused on growing suspicions about the US, Taiwan President William Lai and the military. There was mention of concern about Taiwan’s ability to defend itself.
