‘China’s deep interest in Arunachal Pradesh’, what was said about this in the American report?

India and China may have ended the border dispute on the LAC (Line of International Control) in eastern Ladakh, but there is a possibility of another dispute in the coming years. According to the recent report of the American Pentagon, China has expressed its claim on Taiwan as well as Arunachal Pradesh and has described it as one of its main interests.

The Pentagon report says that this northeastern state can become a major center of tension in New Delhi-Beijing relations. The report submitted to the US Congress states that Arunachal Pradesh, Taiwan and the South China Sea are of great importance to China. The report said that in order to make the country great again, China’s goal is to build a world-class military power capable of fighting and winning. India has always said that Arunachal Pradesh was and will always be an integral part of the country.

Tension re-emerges over Arunachal
Last year, India and China had signed an agreement for the purpose of withdrawal of troops regarding LAC (Line of International Control) in eastern Ladakh. However, after several months of peace, tension over Arunachal Pradesh has re-emerged recently. Last month, Indian citizen Prema Thongdok, who was traveling from London to Japan, was detained for 18 hours during a stopover in Shanghai.

Arunachal born woman was detained by China
Thongdok had said that Chinese authorities claimed that his passport was invalid because it mentioned Arunachal Pradesh as his birthplace. Eventually, she managed to resume her journey after contacting the Indian Embassy in Shanghai through a friend living in Britain.

Earlier this week, an Indian YouTuber was detained in China because in his video made in support of Thongdok, he had described Arunachal Pradesh as an integral part of India.

China does not accept the McMahon Line
Beijing considers Arunachal Pradesh to be part of China and calls the region Southern Tibet or Zangnan. This is because China does not accept the McMahon Line drawn by the British in 1914. Let us tell you that there was an agreement between Britain and the then independent Tibet regarding this border.
