The Coast Guard of the Philippines has issued an official statement in this regard. Philippines Coast Guard spokesman Commodore Jai Tariela said the incident took place near the disputed Scarboro Shole in the South China Sea, when the Philippines Coast Guard was escorting ships helping fishermen.

Tariella said, “The Chinese Coast Guard ship CCG 3104 took a very dangerous turn from the Starboard Quarter of the Philippines ship, due to which the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) collided with the warship of the Navy, who was bent on BRP Suluan, the ship of the Philippines Coast Guard, BRP Suluan.” He said, “The collision of the Chinese naval ship has caused serious damage to the Forecasal of the CCG ship, causing it to not be able to walk in the sea.”

At the same time, Chinese Coast Guard spokesperson Gaan U issued an official statement confirming that on Monday (August 11, 2025), there was a confrontation between two ships of China in the South China Sea. However, he did not openly mention the collision. He said, “China Coast Guard has taken all the necessary steps according to the law. This includes monitoring, pressure from outside, stopping and controlling the Philippines ship.”
