Good news on domestic front

Amidst all this, there is good news on the domestic front for India. The Confederation of Indian Industry i.e. CII estimates that India’s GDP can move at the rate of 6.5 percent. CII President Sanjeev Puri says that the country’s economy is quite strong to overcome the short-term impact of geopolitical issues.

In an interview to the news agency PTI, he said that India should enact bilateral trade agreements with major business partners to protect national interests in view of increasing trade obstacles. Talking about the increase in private investment in various fields such as energy, transport, metal, chemicals and hospitality, he said that ‘some vigilance’ in investment may come due to current geopolitical uncertainties.

GDP will increase at the rate of 6.5 percent

On the GDP growth of India President of CII, we said that we are expecting a rate of 6.5 percent. We believe that these numbers can be fundamentally achieved, because the fact is that we are starting with a properly good foundation, strong economic base. ”

Sanjeev Puri said that the interest rate has decreased in recent times. Inflation is becoming soft. Personal income tax is being exempted from April 1. Investment in public and private sector has increased in the second half of the previous year. On the proposed high fee on many major economies by US President Donald Trump and the tendency of increasing protectionism globally, he admitted that there is more and more obstacles in the business at this time.

He suggested that India should form bilateral trade agreement (BTA) which are mutually beneficial and in national interest. Sanjeev Puri believes that that is why India is advancing the countries that India and big countries are America and European Union. He said that whatever we have to do from the point of view of national interest, we should do it, and I think these are the most important bilateral trade agreements.
