In the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly amidst the conflict with the Governor, Chief Minister MK Stalin has proposed to make the state autonomous. He said that 75 years have been completed for the independence of the country. People of different languages, caste and culture live in our country. We all live together. He said that Dr. Ambedkar created the system of politics and administration of the country in such a way that everyone could be protected.
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin said in the assembly that a high-level committee has been formed to protect the state’s rights and improve the center-state relations. Former officer Ashok Shetty and MU in this committee. People like Nagarajan will be involved. This committee will submit an interim report by January 2026 and will submit its full reports and recommendations to the government within two years.

MK Stalin said that the rights of the states are being taken away one by one. The people of the state are struggling with the central government for their fundamental rights. We are also able to protect the rights related to our language. Stalin said that the state can make true progress only when they have all the necessary rights and powers.
He informed that a special committee is being formed to recommend giving more autonomy to the states, which will be chaired by former Supreme Court judge Kurien Joseph. Former IAS officers Ashok Varadan Shetty and Nagarajan will also be members in this committee.
The center rejected this demand
Recently, the Bill sent to the Center to get exemption from the medical entrance examination NEET was rejected by the Central Government. The DMK government of the state wanted the admissions in medical colleges to be on the basis of 12th marks. But the Center said that doing so is against the national health policy. This caused a big shock to the state government.
The Chief Minister expressed displeasure over the rejecting of this bill. He said that this decision is an insult to Tamil Nadu and described it as a black era for federalism. The Chief Minister said, “Even though the central government has turned down our proposal, our fight is not over. We will challenge this decision in the court and will take advice from legal experts.
