Sukhvinder singh sukhu: Himachal Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu has said that the state government is constantly striving to strengthen the rural economy. Potato processing plant will be set up in Una district at a cost of about Rs 20 crore.

He said that the state government will soon declare the support price of potatoes, which will give the economic force of the farmers. The Chief Minister was presiding over the State Level Multi-Hit Consultation Conference organized by the Himachal Pradesh Revitalizing Renfed Agriculture Network.

On natural farming, he said that many new schemes will be implemented to strengthen the rural economy. He said that due to unbalanced food, there is an increase in problems related to nutrition among people.

The Chief Minister said that after the north-eastern states of the country, Himachal Pradesh is seeing the biggest increase in cancer cases. Changes in food habits can also be the main reason for this. Efforts are being made to locate this. The Chief Minister said that 80 percent of the state’s population is dependent on agriculture for livelihood.

The backbone of the economy of agriculture Himachal

He said that agriculture is the backbone of Himachal’s economy and it contributes about 14 percent to the state’s GDP. Currently, the manner in which adverse effects have been seen in the weather is worrying for agriculture.

He said that the state government is promoting green energy in the state and natural farming is being encouraged. The minimum support price of crops produced from natural farming has been fixed. The government will further increase the support price of natural farming products in the coming time and this process will continue continuously.

CM Sukhu said that climate tolerant agriculture, pulses and widespread animal husbandry and promoting shepherds, excessive use of traditional seed systems, force on water security and soil conservation, etc. are such steps through which we can strengthen these challenges. There are traditional seeds and crops that grow from natural farming, are rich in nutrition and also keep the need for water less. We have to reuse such traditional crops. In these, further improvement will have to be brought through research so that we can ensure the future generations to ensure a proper diet and clean environment.

The Chief Minister also released a book based on natural farming experiences on the occasion. He appreciated the farmers of the state associated with natural farming and gave detailed information about the efforts being made by the government in this direction. Nek Ram Sharma gave detailed information about the program to the Chief Minister. He also discussed the importance of coarse grains including saving water, forest, land.
