Senior Congress leader and spokesperson Pawan Kheda launched a scathing attack on the Modi government and the Election Commission on Wednesday (July 23, 2025). He said that the credibility of democratic institutions in the country is being weakened and the public is now beginning to understand it. He raised many serious questions about the Election Commission, BJP’s internal politics, Prime Minister’s foreign policy and resignation of the Vice President. He also claimed that the chair of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath is not safe.
Attacking the organizational status of BJP, he said that the BJP itself is not able to decide its president. He further said, “The BJP’s organization has become leadershipless. There is no face left in the party which can be made unanimously president.” He claimed that the chair of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath is also not safe and the inner fighting is going on in the party.
Pawan Kheda raised questions on the fairness of the Election Commission
Pawan Kheda alleged that the Election Commission had lost its role of fairness. He said, “When we question the Election Commission, the BJP answers and when we question the BJP, the Election Commission gives the answer.” The Congress leader described it as dangerous for democracy and said that the public is now understanding this game. He satirized and said that now “the fear of fat brother and younger brother is ending.”
Questions on the resignation of Vice President
The Congress leader also questioned the resignation of Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar. He said that this resignation has taken place in a mysterious way and the Vice President should clarify the reason for his resignation in front of the country. He raised the question, “When the monsoon session of Parliament was starting, the resignation of the Vice President raises doubts. Was it a part of a scheme?”
Sarcasm on PM’s foreign policy
On Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s foreign visit, Kheda alleged, “PM is afraid of China and America. They avoid difficult questions and try to divert attention from domestic issues through foreign tours.”
