‘Coconut was broken 7 times for a small bridge, still half was made’, BJP leader’s taunt on Kamal Nath

The political temperature has again become high in Chhindwara district of Madhya Pradesh. Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) District President Sheshrao Yadav has made a scathing attack on the letter written by former MP Chief Minister Kamal Nath to Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari.

Sheshrao Yadav termed Kamal Nath’s demand as ‘credit politics’ and said that those who remained in power for decades and ignored the problems of the city, are now being reminded of development as the elections approach.

‘Showed the dream of 11km bridge to the public’

Sheshrao Yadav said in a cheeky manner that the people of Chhindwara are smiling after reading Kamal Nath’s letter. He alleged that Kamal Nath did not take care of the traffic jam of Chhindwara for years, but now when the work is coming on the ground due to the efforts of the BJP government, he has started seeing an 11 kilometer bridge.

The BJP leader said, “For years, votes were obtained by showing the people of Chhindwara the dream of this 11 kilometer bridge. As soon as they won the elections, they used to forget the bridge and now when the wind has changed, they are trying to show their activism by writing letters.”

Reminiscence of old times: ‘One bridge, seven coconuts’

Raising questions on the tenure of the former Chief Minister, BJP District President said that Kamal Nath himself had been the Road Transport Minister, but during his time, more announcements were heard than development. He taunted that at that time Bhoomi Pujan was conducted as if inauguration of every stone was mandatory.

Referring to an old incident, the BJP District President said that even today the public has not forgotten that period when coconuts were broken seven times for the construction of a small overbridge, but despite this only half of the bridge could be built. He said, “It will not take long for the public to understand why air travelers are now suddenly worried about the roads.”

Double Engine Government vs Politics of Credit

Sheshrao Yadav clarified that at present the ‘double engine’ government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari and State Chief Minister Mohan Yadav is bringing real development. When the work is visible on the ground, then Kamal Nath wants to send a message to the public by writing a letter that this is the result of his efforts.

In the end, Sheshrao Yadav said that the people of Chhindwara have now understood the difference between hollow announcements and actual work.
