Police has taken major action in the Coimbatore gangrape case. The police arrested the accused Thavasi, Karthik and Kaliswaran in the early hours of Tuesday (November 4) after a half-encounter. The accused have been shot in the legs, so they have been taken to the hospital.
After the gangrape incident, the police had formed 7 special teams to investigate the case. A bike was found at some distance from the car of the victim’s friend. The accused had come there on this bike. The victim was kidnapped near her friend’s car. On the basis of bike and CCTV footage, police identified the accused.
A police constable also injured
Police had received information from local intelligence that the three accused were hiding in Vellaikanar area, a suburb of Coimbatore. As soon as the special police team reached there, the three accused attacked the police team with sharp weapons. Police constable Chandrashekhar was injured in this attack. In retaliation, the police opened fire, in which all three were shot in the leg and they were arrested in a half encounter. The police admitted the accused to the government hospital in Coimbatore late at night. According to the police, the accused also have an old criminal record.

A 20-year-old student was raped by three people near Coimbatore International Airport in Tamil Nadu late on Sunday night. According to the information, the accused first attacked the student’s boyfriend. He was left on the spot in a critical condition and took the student along with him. This entire incident happened in a deserted area near the airport. There was no CCTV camera installed around the incident.
According to the police, the victim had gone out of the hostel with her boyfriend at around 4:30 pm on Sunday evening. Both were reportedly in a relationship for the last five years. They had dinner outside and then drove the car to the airport. Police said that at around 11 pm, three people reached near his car, where they committed this crime.
