In view of the cold wave in Haridwar, Uttarakhand, all schools from nursery to class 12th will remain closed on Tuesday (30 December). This decision has been taken by the Meteorological Department after warning of dense fog and extreme cold. All the officers of the district have been asked to follow this order.

On behalf of the Haridwar District Magistrate’s Office, the District Senior Superintendent of Police, Chief Development Officer, Additional District Magistrate, City Magistrate, Deputy District Magistrate, Chief Education Officer have been directed to inform about this instruction.

Meteorological department warned

According to the order issued by the District Magistrate’s office, in view of the cold wave, the Meteorological Department of Dehradun has given a district level warning of 5 days for Uttarakhand on Monday (29 December). Due to this warning, there is a possibility of cold day and dense fog conditions at some places in Haridwar district on Tuesday (30 December). Also, a yellow alert has been issued by the Meteorological Department.

It has been said in the order that keeping in view the safety of school going students, holiday is declared for children from class 1 to class 12 in Angavwadi centres, government, semi-government, government aided and private schools of the district.

Action will be taken if the order is not followed

It is also said in the order that this order should be followed. This order is effective with immediate effect. In case of violation of the order, action will be taken against those schools under relevant sections of the Disaster Management Act-2005.

Let us tell you that amidst the continuous change in weather and increasing cold, there is concern about the health of school students. In view of this, this decision has been taken by the administration. Let us tell you that in view of the increasing cold and the outbreak of cold wave, many states have given orders to keep all the schools closed.
