1. Red meat
Excess intake of red meat like beef, pork and lamb increases the risk of colon cancer. Especially when it is frying, barbecue or grilling on very high heat, it produces harmful elements that damage the intestine cells.
What to eat instead– Select protein sources like fish, chicken, pulses and Rajma. If you have to eat red meat, then boil or bake in small amounts and eat.
2. Processed Meat
Nitrates and preservatives are added to things like Bacon, Sausage, Ham and Hot Dog. WHO has considered them cancer foods.
What to eat instead– Use fresh chicken, fish or cheese. Add herbs and spices to taste.
3. Sweet drinks and refined carbs
Soda, packed juice and sweet tea-coffee contain too much sugar. Also, white bread and flour things also increase the sugar level in the body. Obesity and insulin resistance increase the risk of cancer.
What to eat instead– Drink detox water made of water, lemonade, green tea or fruits. Eat wheat, oats and brown rice instead of bread.
4. Junk and processed food
Packed snacks, burgers, pizza and fried food contain more oil, salt and chemical. They do not contain fiber and they increase inflammation in the body.
What to eat instead-Homemade food, salad, dal-rice, vegetable-bread. For snacks, you can eat roasted gram, makhana or popcorn.
5. More alcohol
Excessive consumption of alcohol damages DNA and increases the risk of colon cancer.
What to drink instead of this- Herbal tea, coconut water, flavor sparkling water or seasonal juice.
6. More fat and full-fat dairy
The fried food, butter, ghee and full cream increase the risk of saturated fat cancer present in milk.
What to eat instead Low-fat milk, yogurt or sleeping and almond milk. Eat olive oil, avocado and nuts for fat.
7. More salt and packed food
Things like pickles, chips and canned soup contain more salt and chemical. They can damage the layer of the intestine.
What to eat instead– Use lemon, herbs and spices to enhance the taste of food. Drink fresh vegetables and homemade soup.
Colon cancer is rapidly affecting the youth. But the good thing is that this danger can be reduced to a great extent by changing the diet and choosing a healthy option. Small habits such as junk food instead of household food, food instead of sweet drinks and processed meat, eating pulses and vegetables can keep the intestine healthy for a long time.
