Colonel Sofiya Qureshi Husband House Attacked Fake News Fake post of attack on Colonel Sophia Qureshi’s in -laws was done from outside India, police said

An FIR was lodged on Thursday (May 15, 2025) in the case of fake posts of attack on the house of Indian Army officer Sophia Qureshi’s house in Belagavi, Karnataka. An FIR has been lodged against Khatabhar Aneesuddin, who posted fake posts on social media platform X. Initial investigation also revealed that the post was done from outside India and Anees lives in British Columbia, Canada.

Police said that on the complaint of a police officer, a case has been registered at CEN police station under Section 353 (2) (making a statement for public mischief and 192 (a) (deliberately encouraged) of the Indian Justice Code for the wrong post against Aneesuddin.

A senior police officer said that two other X account holders apricots and Drumi have also been named in the FIR to retweet the alleged fake posts. These account holders have not yet been identified. Belgavi Superintendent of Police Bhimashankar Guler confirmed on Wednesday that no such incident had taken place and he had clarified that the post is false.

The social media post posted on X, which was later deleted, is believed to be posted from outside India. Initial investigation has revealed that the accused Anees hails from British Columbia, Canada. Earlier in the day, Karnataka Home Minister Ji Parmeshwar said that the Superintendent of Police (SP) has been instructed to take action as per the law.

She told reporters in Bengaluru, ‘She (Colonel Sophia) is the daughter -in -law of Belagavi, her husband is from Belagavi. The SP there has already given a statement. We have asked to register an FIR and inform the Central Government for action. They will do this … This is an insult to the state and the country. This is not appropriate.

According to the police, as a precaution, a local police team had gone to the in -laws of Colonel Sofia Qureshi in Gokak taluka and two policemen have been deployed outside their house. Colonel Sophia Qureshi and Wing Commander Vyomika Singh informed the media about India’s action at a press conference with Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri during India’s military action Sindoor last week.
