The nature of education in today’s fast-pace has changed. Booky knowledge and job race have left behind morality and rituals. Patanjali says that Patanjali Gurukulam, located in Haridwar, Uttarakhand, is trying to stop this change. This institution is reviving the eternal values of the ancient Indian education system, where there is a beautiful confluence of Vedas, yoga and modern science. Its purpose is not just a degree to children, but to teach true values of life.

Gurukul was the center of Indian education in ancient times. There the students lived in the ashram of Guru and learned Sanskrit, Ved-Vedang, philosophy and morality. His character was strengthened by meditation, yoga and service among nature. But in the British era, English education weakened these Gurukuls.

Patanjali Gurukulam is making the old tradition alive

Patanjali claims, “Today, Patanjali Gurukulam is rejuvenating the same tradition. More than 250 students study here, who are divided into the three centers of Devprayag, Yogagram and Patanjali Yogpeeth. Students are woke up in the morning and taught yoga, pranayama and Sanskrit lessons. There are classes of modern subjects like mathematics, science and computer in the afternoon. In the evening, chanting and service work of Veda mantras is included. This balance makes children physically, mentally and spiritually strong. ”

Patanjali said, “The students of Patanjali Gurukulam shows leadership ability and satisfactory nature. Apart from Hindi, Sanskrit, foreign languages like English, German, French are also taught here. But the main focus is on Indian culture. Swami Ramdev says that this education system will protect children from Western materialism and make a true Indian. The institution believes that modern education has become market-focused, while Gurukul is priced. Here students are taught the lesson of self-awareness, humility and truth. ”

This effort is part of nation building- Acharya Balakrishna

Acharya Balakrishna, the head of Patanjali Yogpeeth, says, “This effort is part of nation building. Gurukulam also includes art, crafts and sports, which are essential for all round development of students. There are many benefits from this initiative. Discipline has increased among students and they remain stress free. Parents are also happy because their children are gaining modern knowledge with morality. ”

Patanjali claims, “Gurukulam is not only teaching, but is bringing Indian culture to a new generation.” But there are also challenges. It is not easy to connect modern features with ancient traditions. Still this effort is commendable. As the Gurukulam is spreading, it is expected that Indian education will again connect with its roots. This revival is a ray of hope not only for the students, but for the whole society.
