The party had issued a show cause notice to them, which has now been replied, but the Congress is not satisfied with this answer. The disciplinary committee has described Laxman Singh’s reply as unsatisfactory and has made up his mind to recommend strict action on him.
Controversial statement was given against Rahul Gandhi, Omar Abdullah and Robert Vadra
Laxman Singh recently made controversial statements against Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and Robert Vadra. In particular, he had said about Omar Abdullah that he can “collide with terrorists”. This statement spread widespread resentment in the Congress. Taking the entire matter seriously, the chairman of the party’s disciplinary committee and MP Tariq Anwar issued a notice to Laxman Singh on 9 May and was asked to reply within 10 days.
Congress is not satisfied with the response to the show cause notice
It is being told that the answer to Laxman Singh did not appeal to the party and the discipline committee has not considered it satisfactory. Now the party is going to recommend disciplinary action against them. It is believed within the Congress that the statements of Laxman Singh are harming the image of the party and they are repeatedly causing discomfort in the organization. This is not the first time his statements have put the party in the dock.
Significantly, Laxman Singh has been involved in BJP first and then returned to Congress. Currently he is a member of the Congress, but from his recent attitude, it seems that his disillusionment with his party leadership is increasing. The Congress leadership is now at the point of deciding whether such disgruntled leaders should be maintained in the party or the way out. In the coming days, a big decision can be taken regarding the political future of Laxman Singh.
