Congress has released the fourth list of candidates for the Assam Assembly elections to be held next month on April 9, 2026 (Assam Assembly Election 2026). The party has announced the names of its seven candidates in this list. Apart from this, the party has left 11 seats for the left parties included in the alliance.
Which candidates are included in the list?
The fourth list released by the Congress party includes the names of seven candidates, in which, Bidisha Neog has been made the candidate from Jalukbari assembly constituency of the state, Rohit Pariga from Tangla, Jayant Bora from Biswanath seat, Dr. Joy Prakash Das from Nauboicha (SC) reserve seat, Gyandeep Mohan from Mahmora, Pran Kurmi from Titabor seat and Rahul Roy from Hailakandi assembly seat.
Which seats did Congress give to left parties?
The party has announced the fourth list of names of its candidates as well as the 11 assembly seats that it has left for its ally Left parties in the state. This includes the names of Manas, Dalgaon, Dhing, Kaliabor, Tezpur, Sissibargaon, Margherita, Digboi, Sibsagar, Mariani and Bokakhat assembly seats.
Gaurav Gogoi will contest elections from Jorhat seat
For the Assam assembly elections, Congress has fielded state party president and deputy leader of opposition in the Lok Sabha, Gaurav Gogoi, from Jorhat seat. Till now the Congress Party has released a total of four lists of candidates.
The party had released the first list of names of its candidates earlier this month for March 3, 2026. After this, the second list was released on March 14, then the third list with the names of 22 candidates was released on March 18 and now the fourth list with the names of 7 candidates was released.
When are the assembly elections going to be held in Assam?
The Election Commission of India has announced the dates for the assembly elections in Assam. The Election Commission said that assembly elections will be conducted in Assam in a single phase next month on April 9, 2026. After this, counting of votes and announcement of results will be done on May 4, 2026.
