Congress has released the third list of 22 candidates for the Assam Assembly elections 2026. Before the announcement of election dates, the party had released the second list of its candidates on Saturday, whereas the first list was released on March 3 itself. In this list, State Congress President Gaurav Gogoi has been made the candidate from Jorhat seat.

Names of these candidates in the third list of Congress
In the third list, Congress has fielded Manik Chandra Brahm from Kokrajhar Assembly, Sapali Marak from Biokhungri, Mohammad Ashraful Islam Shaikh from Parbat Jhora, Baby Begum from Dhubri, Aftab Uddin from Jaleshwar, Pradeep Sarkar from Abhaypuri, Metilal Narjari from Sidli Chirang, Abdur Rahim Ahmed from Chenga, Zakir Hussain Sikdar from Pakabetbari, Jagdish from Baksa. Madhi, Rafi from Tamulpur, Sore from Udalguri, Asif Mohammad Nazar from Lahrighat, Naugaon Batadrava, Durvabh Chamua, Sunil Chhetri from Nadaur, Joynto Khaund from Rongonadi, Ghana Buragohain from Lakhimpur, Anand Narah from Dakuakhana, Sibanath Chetia from Makum, Roselina Tirkey from Khumtai, Sanjeeb from Hoverghat. Zubair Anam Majumdar has been given ticket from Terron and Algapur Katlicherra.
Code of conduct implemented in Assam, elections will be held on this day
Central Election Commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar, while giving information during a press conference at Vigyan Bhawan in Delhi, had said that the notification for elections in Assam will be issued on Monday (March 16, 2026). After this, nominations for the elections will be filed till March 23, 2026. Scrutiny of nominations will be done on March 24, 2026. After scrutiny, if any candidate wants to withdraw his name from the election, he can do so till Thursday (March 26, 2026).
After this, voting will be held for the assembly elections in Assam on Thursday (April 9, 2026). After this, the counting of votes cast in Assam elections and the announcement of election results will be done on May 4, 2026. Since the announcement of election dates, the party has been announcing the names of its candidates sequentially.
