India’s representative to the United Nations said that the Shehbaz Sharif-led government had enabled its soldiers to carry out a constitutional coup through the recently passed 27th Amendment. He said, ‘Pakistan should first ask itself how it allowed its army to carry out a constitutional coup and give lifetime protection to its Army Chief Asim Munir.’ India also warned in the United Nations that the dominance of the army in Pakistan is a threat to the peace of the region as well as its people.

India has also strongly criticized the Pakistani law in which Asim Munir has been given legal protection like the President. Now no case will be prosecuted against Asim Munir and other army chiefs forever. The role of the Chief of Defense Forces was fixed under the 27th Amendment of the Constitution in November 2025 with the aim of centralizing military command in Pakistan. In this sequence, the post of Chairman of Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC) was abolished and the post of Chief of Defense Forces (CDF) was created.
Former ISI chief and Army chief Asim Munir was appointed CDF. Now he has become the commander of all three armies (Army, Air, Navy). Along with this, Munir has also got the responsibility of Chief of Army Staff (COAS). CDF is a powerful military post in Pakistan. This appointment has been made for five years.
