A video related to Pakistan cricket is going viral on social media these days. In this video, Pakistan’s opener batsman Sahibzada Farhan gave such a statement, which surprised not only the fans but also the former cricketers of Pakistan. Farhan placed Pakistan’s Ahmed Shahzad above names like legendary batsman Sachin Tendulkar, Virender Sehwag, Rohit Sharma and Saeed Anwar.
What is the whole matter?
In the viral video, Sahibzada Farhan was asked about his favorite opener. In response, he took the name of Ahmed Shehzad and called him better than many great batsmen. The controversy started from here and he started being heavily criticized on social media.
Former Pakistani players were also surprised
Former Pakistani cricketers Basit Ali and Kamran Akmal also reacted to this video. Basit Ali could not believe this statement. He said jokingly, “This is 100% fake. Sahibzada Farhan is not crazy enough to choose Ahmed Shehzad over Sachin Tendulkar. With folded hands, I say, end this topic here.”
Kamran Akmal made fun of
Kamran Akmal had already seen this video and could not stop laughing. He said, “He is a cricketer, he should speak thoughtfully. It is okay to mention your idol, but it is not right to compare with players like Sachin and Saeed Anwar. The way of reply could have been better.”
The matter reached public apology
The matter did not stop here. Basit Ali further said that whenever he meets Sahibzada Farhan, he will definitely ask him whether he was fully conscious that day. Also, both Basit and Kamran together apologized for this ‘mistake’ of Farhan.
Farhan’s career and T20 World Cup connection
Sahibzada Farhan has become a regular opener for Pakistan in T20 International. So far he has scored 917 runs in 37 T20 matches, which includes 8 half-centuries. However, he has not yet got a chance to make ODI and Test debut.
Farhan has been included in Pakistan’s provisional squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup. According to ICC rules, changes can be made in the team till January 31, after which ICC’s permission will be required for any change.
