Nepal’s Central Bank has issued a new Rs 100 note, which shows an updated map including Kalapani, Lipulekh and Limpiyadhura. These are the same areas over which there has been a dispute between India and Nepal for years, and India claims them as its land. The new note has the signature of former Governor Maha Prasad Adhikari and its issue date is written as 2081 BS i.e. 2024. Nepal Rastra Bank has clarified that this map was earlier also present on Rs 100 note, but it has been amended as per the directive of the government. The spokesperson also said that the national map of Nepal appears only on the Rs 100 note, while not on other currencies of Rs 10, 50, 500 and 1000. Talking about the design, the new note has Mt. on the left side. Everest and on the right is the watermark of the national flower Rhododendron. Apart from this, security thread and embossed black dot are also present for security, so that visually impaired people can recognize the note.
