US-Iran Talks: The way has finally been cleared for the proposed talks between America and Iran. Despite the talks reaching the brink of collapse, now both the countries are ready to sit for talks again. According to the report of the British newspaper The Guardian, this important meeting will now be held in Muscat, the capital of Oman, on Friday, whereas earlier it was planned to be held in Turkey.
Iran’s Foreign Minister confirmed
Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said late on Wednesday night that the meeting will now be held in Muscat. He wrote on social media, ‘Nuclear talks with America will take place in Muscat on Friday morning at around 10 am.’ He also thanked Oman for organizing this meeting.
American officials also confirmed that talks will take place. This meeting is taking place at a time when tension is very high in the area. America has increased its military presence there and has warned Iran that if talks fail, action may be taken.
Iran not ready on missiles and other issues
Earlier on Wednesday it seemed that the talks would break down. Iran had clearly said that it would not talk about its ballistic missiles or other issues related to the region. America wants the scope of talks to be wider.
Rubio said – the matter will move forward only when these issues are included
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said that America is ready for talks, but it has some clear demands. He said, ‘If any concrete result is to be achieved from the talks, then some important issues will have to be included in it.’ He mentioned Iran’s missiles, support to armed groups, nuclear program and treatment of its own people.
Trump said this in his statement
When President Donald Trump was asked a question on Iran’s stance, he said that Iran’s supreme leader should be worried. “I would say they should be very, very concerned,” Trump said. Arab and Muslim countries appealed to the White House not to abandon the talks. After this both sides agreed to return to the negotiating table again.
Iran clearly says – talk only on nuclear issue
Iran says that the only issue in the talks will be that its nuclear program is not for military purposes. He wants to retain the right to enrich uranium in his country and refuses to send his uranium abroad. Russia has said that its proposal to keep uranium with itself still stands.
