In Chhindwara, Madhya Pradesh, within 22 days, the death of 6 children and the death of a child in Sikar, Rajasthan has stirred up the health department. According to doctors, the kidney of children failed in all cases. It is feared that the phlegm syrup of certain brands may be the reason for this, because the initial symptoms were like cold, cough and fever in sick children. However, the Madhya Pradesh government has described this apprehension as baseless.
6 deaths in 22 days, investigation begins
An official told the news agency ANI that six children died due to kidney failure in Chhindwara between 4 to 26 September. The families of the victims say that the children initially had cold and fever, but later their kidney deteriorated. Chhindwara CMHO Dr. Naresh Gunnade said that the teams of the central and state government have been called to investigate the matter. He told that during the treatment of children, three deaths occurred in Nagpur and the rest in Chhindwara. Water, medicines and other samples have been sent for investigation, whose report is awaited.
Stop some phlegm syrup
Dr. Gunnade said that some phlegm syrup has been found from the houses of the dead. Precautionary, these drugs have been temporarily banned and sales have been discontinued. At present, five children have been admitted to the Government Medical College, Nagpur.
District administration alert
District Collector Shilendra Singh said that the expert team from Bhopal and Delhi is investigating. Reports have been received from Pune’s lab, in which the possibility of viral infection has been rejected. He warned the parents not to give the children cuff syrup without the advice of the doctor.
A death, 19 batch ban in Rajasthan
In Sikar district of Rajasthan, the death of a child is being seen by linking it with phlegm syrup. For this reason, Rajasthan Medical Corporation has banned the sale and use of 19 batch syrup and has advised doctors and pharmacists to be vigilant.
Did the Health Minister say?
Madhya Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister and Health Minister Rajendra Shukla said that children have died due to phlegm syrup, this claim is baseless. He informed that samples have been sent to the lab of ICMR and Nagpur for examination. The real reason will be clear only after the report comes.
