The number of active Kovid-19 cases in India has crossed 3,000, of which Kerala, Maharashtra and Delhi are the most affected states in the new wave of Kovid. According to data on the official website of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, till Saturday (May 31, 2025) there were 3,395 active corona cases in the country, with an increase of about 1,200 percent since last week. There were 257 active cases in India on 22 May and till 26 May there were 1,010 active cases. There were 685 new Corona virus cases in the country between Friday and Saturday.
Most of Kovid affected states
According to the data, 189 new Kovid cases were reported in Kerala, the most affected state of India on Friday and there are 1,336 active cases. It is followed by Maharashtra (467), Delhi (375), Gujarat (265), Karnataka (234), West Bengal (205), Tamil Nadu (185) and Uttar Pradesh (117). Rajasthan (60), Puducherry (41), Haryana (26), Andhra Pradesh (17) and Madhya Pradesh (16) are other states, where there is an increase in Kovid cases.
The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) has stated that samples of samples in the west and south have shown that the new variants are the sub-variants of Omikron, which was a strain behind the big covid wave in India in 2022.
28 people died of Corona since January 1
ICMR chief Dr. Rajiv Bahl said that these are LF7, XFG, JN.1 and NB.1.8.1. These three are more prevalent. He also confirmed that the cases of Kovid-19 have increased. From the first south, then from the west and now from North India. Dr. Bahl said that all these cases are being monitored through integrated disease monitoring program (IDSP).
According to the official information given by the Health Department, there have been 28 deaths from Korona since January 1, 2025. Since yesterday, there have been 4 deaths (1 Kerala and 1 Karnataka, 2 West Bengal).
