The International Cricket Council has suspended the USA Cricket Board. This decision has indicated a major change in the United States of Cricket. This decision has been taken at the ICC’s virtual board meeting on Tuesday. Despite the suspension of the board, the USA cricket team will be a part of the 2026 T20 World Cup, which is to be played in India and Sri Lanka next year.
The ICC had many complaints related to American cricket. The issue came into the discussion when the ICC sent a notice to the USA Cricket Board in the annual conference held in Sri Lanka last year. At the same time, the annual conference took place in Singapore this year, in which USA cricket was given 3 months to prepare a systematic structure. For several weeks, the ICC was constantly warned to the USA Cricket Board and its chairman Venu Pisike that fair procedures should be implemented to bring transparent governance.
Just before the election in the USA Cricket Board, there were cases of improper selection of candidates inside the board and manipulating the process according to the needs of some special persons. According to ESPN Cricinfo, USA Cricket Board Chairman Venu Pisike said that the ICC has not yet contacted him regarding suspension.
This suspension will not have any effect on playing cricket in Los Angeles Olympics 2028. Let us tell you that due to the host, the USA cricket team can be one of the 6 teams that will participate in the 2028 Olympic Games.
Even the USA Olympic and Paralympic Committee (USOPC) supported changes in the USA Cricket Board. ICC and UsopC are unanimous on this matter, but even after continuous efforts, the Board Venu Pisike is not ready to step down. It is also believed that Pisike asked other members as well as other members not to quit their post.
