After losing the first Test against India, West Indies captain Roston Chase has surprised the world with his statement. Chase said that players want to earn livelihood and name, but the financial crisis of Caribbean cricket is affecting their progress. Let us know that India has defeated West Indies by an innings and 140 runs in the first Test. This match ended on the third day.
The West Indies team, which once ruled international cricket, loses to small teams today. Recently, Australia had all out the West Indies for just 27 runs. After this, Cricket West Indies called an emergency meeting, in which other prominent stakeholders along with veterans like Clive Lloyd and Brian Lara participated.
West Indies captain Roston Chase said, “I don’t want to talk much on it, but I would definitely say that yes, there is a financial crisis in the Caribbean team. Whatever help we can get (if they are planning to seek help) I hope that we will help us so that we can strengthen the basic structures for cricket. The arrangements of training facilities in the Caribbean team are a bit weak.”
He further said, “But I am not using it to hide it any excuse or recently to hide our bad performance. I still feel that the players are responsible for scoring runs, taking any way to take wickets, so I do not want to talk about it.”
In the first Test played against India at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, the West Indies team could score 162 and 146 runs in both innings, causing India to lead 1-0 in the two-match series. Now the second and final Test of India and West Indies Beach Test series will be played in New Delhi between 10 and 14 October.
