Chennai Super Kings have described the claims of Ravichandran Ashwin as ‘nonsense’. Ashwin had claimed that the CSK franchise had secretly transacted more money to sign the Dewald Brevis in IPL 2025. Actually, the Chennai team wanted Gurjapneet Singh’s replacement, he was replaced by Dewald Brevis last season. Ashwin claimed that many teams wanted to join the young South African batsman with them, but the Super Kings had added more money to the Brevis. It was also called ‘Fraud Deal’ on social media.

Chennai Super Kings have described Ashwin’s claims as false through posts on social media. Posting on X, CSK Frenchji wrote, “Dewald Bravis signed to become a replacement player under Claus 6.6 of the IPL Player Rules 2025-2027. Franchise wants to ensure that Brevis was signed by following the rules.”

Dewald Bravis was included in their squad by the CSK team in IPL 2025 for Rs 2.2 crore. This is the same amount, Chennai bought Gurjapneet Singh in the auction in winning. Replacement rules in the IPL say that no player can be given more money than that, in which the team was bought in the auction. At the same time, if a player is brought as a replacement in the middle of the season, then according to the remaining matches of the team, the amount received will be cut.

Which statement of Ashwin created a ruckus?

On her YouTube channel, Ravichandran Ashwin had said that, “The second half of IPL 2025 for Dewald Bravis had passed quite well. I had heard that 2-3 teams wanted to bring Bravis with him, but she was not ready to pay more money. Here CSK took the entry and signed the brews. I had demanded the brews. So I should be given money on the same basis. CSK succeeded in connecting the young player with him.
