Which Foods Should Not Be Eaten Together: We need to take care of some things while eating food. What we eat and what things we eat together have a direct impact on our digestion power. Wrong food combinations can spoil digestion and accumulate toxic elements in the body. This can result in gas, flatulence, acidity, skin problems and serious diseases in the long run. Let us tell you according to Ayurveda which combinations we should avoid.
What does Ayurveda say?
According to kevaayurveda, an organization providing information about Ayurveda, Ayurveda believes that every person has different Vata, Pitta, Kapha and digestive capacity and some food items have opposite properties to each other. If these are eaten together again and again, there is additional pressure on the digestion system. This can cause problems like gas, constipation, heartburn, acne, weak immunity and digestion.
Which food combinations should be avoided?
According to kevaayurveda, among some major wrong food combinations which are advised to be avoided, first comes milk and fish. According to Ayurveda, milk is cold and heavy, while fish is considered hot in nature. Taking both together can cause digestive upset and skin problems. Similarly, sour fruits like orange, lemon or pineapple along with milk are also not considered good, because they can tear the milk in the stomach and increase gas or acidity.
Mixing honey with hot food is also considered harmful in Ayurveda. Heating honey can change its properties and cause toxic effects in the body. Eating fruits immediately after a heavy meal is also not considered advisable, as fruits are digested quickly and can start fermentation in the stomach with a heavy meal. The combination of curd and sugar is also not considered conducive for digestion. Curd is already sour and cold, while refined sugar can increase imbalance in the body. Taking curd with fruits or cold things at night can increase phlegm, which can cause cold, cough or sinus problems. Taking milk with stale food was also not considered good for digestion.
What things should be consumed?
Ayurveda advises to eat a seasonal diet, not overeat and use spices like ginger, cumin, fennel, which strengthen digestion. By adopting the right food combination, digestion remains strong, observation of nutritional elements improves and the body remains balanced. These rules are considered even more beneficial especially for children, elderly and people with weak digestion.
