Chairman of Scheduled Caste-Tribe Commission in Darbhanga, Dhananjay Kumar alias Mrinal Paswan inspected Darbhanga Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) on Wednesday. During this, he met the patients of SC-ST community who were injured in the incident of fighting in Harinagar village of Kusheshwarsthan police station area and inquired about their well being.

The Chairman took detailed information about the treatment of the injured from the hospital superintendent and doctors. The patients said that they were attacked when they demanded outstanding wages, due to which they are scared. At the same time, the family members raised serious complaints like spending money from outside for medicines, not getting beds, poor quality of food and not getting food on time.

During the inspection, the Chairman also visited male and female wards, emergency and other departments of DMCH. He communicated directly with the patients to know the status of medicines, cleanliness and food arrangements and instructed the concerned officials for immediate improvement.

Chairman of Caste-Tribe Commission Dhananjay Kumar alias Mrinal Paswan clearly said that it is the right of SC-ST community patients to get better facilities in government hospitals. He directed that the injured should not be discharged in a hurry and the treatment should be continued till the seriously injured girl gets a rod in her leg. A warning was also given of action if negligence was found.

12 accused arrested so far in this case

The station in-charge informed that till now 12 accused have been arrested in the case, while others are absconding. The Chairman gave instructions to make immediate arrests, increase patrolling in the area and provide security to the victims. Besides, the affected families were assured of compensation within 1-2 days.

‘Commission’s priority is to provide justice to the victims’

President Mrinal Paswan said that strict action will be taken against anti-social elements who turn a small dispute into a riot. On the instructions of MP Chirag Paswan and Bihar Government, he himself has reached the spot. He said that providing justice to the victims is the priority of the Commission. After the inspection, he held a review meeting with the hospital administration and gave instructions to improve the arrangements.
