Talks regarding a trade deal between the two countries have been going on since last year, but came to a halt in the month of August, when US President Donald Trump imposed 50% tariff on India. In this, 25% tariff was imposed as a penalty, then the US side said that despite the war with Ukraine, India continued to buy oil from Russia.

The deal with Britain was good, even better with EU: Goyal
Apart from this, he also talked about deals with Britain and European Union. He said that the deal with Britain was excellent. The agreement with the European Union is equally good. However, the deal cannot be copied. The conditions, economy and interests of every country matter. Every deal is special in itself.
He said that the people of the European Union remained with us continuously. He worked honestly and seriously in this direction. We started talks from 2022. He had made up his mind that he had to make a trade agreement with India. We believe that this deal will be approved only in 2026. Apart from this, while talking about the functioning of the government in such deals, he said that the biggest difference between the past and present is that India is a respected country today. People look for political stability. He sees stability in macroeconomics. Besides, decision-making leadership is also a special reason for this.
The world recognizes India’s talent pool: Goyal
Goyal said that the world recognizes India’s talent pool. Therefore now other countries also want to do business with India. India also presents its stand strongly. We used to talk about the current economy first, which was a very wrong strategy. Now we are talking about the future. The time passed does not matter. Reiterating PM Modi’s statement, he said that you are negotiating future FTAs. The past does not matter. Today India’s $4 trillion economy does not matter. There will be an economy of 30 trillion dollars in 2047, talks are being held on this.
