Deepti Sharma was born on 24 August 1997 in Shamshabad, Agra district of Uttar Pradesh. His father Bhagwan Sharma worked in Railways and mother Sushila Sharma is a school principal. There were four elder brothers in the house and the youngest brother Sumit Sharma was a fast bowler for UP. Deepti used to often go to the field with Sumit in her childhood and it was from here that her cricket journey started. At the beginning of her career, Deepti wanted to become a fast bowler, but her brother advised her to adopt spin bowling. He himself left his job so that he could make Deepti practice daily. The result of her hard work was that at the age of 12, Deepti was selected in the UP Under-19 team.

Entry into Team India at the age of 17

In the year 2014, Deepti Sharma made a place in Team India at the age of just 17. His first ODI was played against South Africa. After this he made his debut in T20 International in 2016 and Test cricket in 2021. Deepti created history in 2017 when she made a partnership of 320 runs with Poonam Raut against Ireland. This is the biggest opening partnership so far in women’s ODI cricket. In that match she scored 188 runs, which is the second highest score in women’s ODI.

With his performance he proved that he is an expert not only in batting but also in bowling. Deepti is the first Indian woman bowler to take 100 wickets in 20 international matches. He created history by taking a hat-trick in WPL 2023 and took 30 wickets in the 2024 T20 series. Now she became the most successful bowler in the 2025 World Cup by taking 22 wickets.

Story of becoming DSP

In view of Deepti’s excellent performance and contribution to the country, she was honored with the Arjuna Award in 2020. After this, for winning the silver medal in the Commonwealth Games 2023, the Uttar Pradesh government announced a reward of Rs 3 crore and the job of DSP.

Deepti Sharma’s salary and earnings

Deepti was formally donned the uniform of DSP in a ceremony held in Moradabad in January 2025. After becoming DSP, Deepti gets a basic salary of around Rs 56,100 per month under Level-10 pay scale. Along with this, they also get dearness allowance, house rent allowance and other allowances. Overall their salary ranges from Rs 80 thousand to Rs 1 lakh per month. Apart from this, she has also received a contract worth about Rs 1.4 crore from WPL (Women’s Premier League). This means that now Deepti has joined those few players of the country who are performing brilliantly in both cricket and government service.
