Aam Aadmi Party has suffered a setback before the MCD by-elections in Delhi. Former MLA Shoaib Iqbal has resigned from AAP. Shoaib’s son Aale Iqbal is the current MLA from AAP. Sources related to Shoaib Iqbal say that in the corporation by-election, ‘AAP’ announced the candidate for the area seat without the consent of Aale Iqbal and Shoaib Iqbal, due to which Shoaib Iqbal got angry and decided to resign. He said that he was resigning after being fed up with the party’s policies.

Expressing his displeasure, Shoaib Iqbal said, “Aam Aadmi Party could not live up to the expectations of the people of Delhi and being fed up with the policies of the party, I am resigning.” Now he has no connection with Aam Aadmi Party and will never have any connection with AAP.

Shoaib Iqbal was MLA from Matia Mahal 7 times.

Shoaib Iqbal of Matia Mahal assembly constituency of the national capital Delhi has been MLA seven times. In the 2020 assembly elections, Shoaib had won the election from Matia Mahal on AAP ticket, but for the 2025 elections, the party had given ticket to his son Aale Iqbal and he also won. Shoaib Iqbal says that the party did not respect the sentiments of the local workers while announcing the candidates for the MCD by-election.

AAP released list of 12 candidates

AAP has released the list of candidates for the upcoming MCD by-election in Delhi on Sunday (09 November). The party has announced the names of 12 candidates from different wards. Let us tell you that by-elections are to be held on 12 seats of Delhi Municipal Corporation on 30 November 2025. The process of nomination of candidates has started from 3rd November. The last date for filing nomination is December 10. The results of the by-election will be declared on December 3.
