A very serious and worrying case has come to light in New Delhi. A 10 year old girl was kidnapped and raped in Prasad Nagar area of Delhi. Police have arrested 25-year-old e-rickshaw driver Durgesh in this case. The accused is a resident of Farrukhabad, Uttar Pradesh.
According to the police, this incident took place on January 10. The girl was selling roses at the traffic signal. Meanwhile, the accused stopped his e-rickshaw after dropping the passengers. When the girl approached him to sell flowers, the accused tricked her into selling all the roses and made her sit in the e-rickshaw. After this he took the girl to a secluded forest area, where she was raped.
The accused absconded after the rape
Police said that the accused, considering the girl dead, left her unconscious and soaked in blood and fled from the spot. After regaining consciousness after some time, the girl somehow reached her family. Seeing his condition, the family members got scared and immediately took him to the hospital. After this the police was informed.
Accused arrested after examining 300 CCTV footage
The police had to face many challenges in the investigation of the case, because the girl was in deep shock. The police examined the footage of about 300 CCTV cameras installed on about 15 routes in the area where the girl was last seen and the roads leading to the forest. In a video clip, the girl was seen sitting in an e-rickshaw. The registration number of the vehicle was traced, which led to the identification of the accused and his arrest.
Slipper revealed
DCP said that on January 11, 2026, information was received from the hospital that some wrongdoing had happened to a 10-year-old girl. The girl told that on the afternoon of January 10, near BL Kapoor Hospital, an unknown e-rickshaw driver lured her to give her tea. The accused took the girl to a secluded forest area, where he brutalized the innocent girl in a blue room. The girl showed courage and told the police the appearance of the accused and the identity of the red colored e-rickshaw with white roof.
After the case was registered, the police team along with Prasad Nagar police station in-charge searched an area of about 20 square kilometers and searched 22 different places. Police found the girl’s slippers near Ramnath Vijay Marg, which helped identify the spot. After this, while scanning the CCTV footage, the police reached the suspected e-rickshaw.
Police engaged in further action after the arrest
Accused Durgesh told the police during interrogation that he had seen the girl at the red light several times before and had planned to kidnap her. Police said that based on his trail, police recovered blood stained clothes and other evidence. Police say that the girl’s treatment and counseling is ongoing and the matter is being investigated.
