With increasing cold in Delhi-NCR, the weather has worsened. On the morning of 30 October, light fog was seen in many parts of the capital, while the haze and clouds increased the problems of the people on the roads.
The pollution level in New Delhi remains beyond 300. The wind speed has reduced to 10 km per hour, due to which the air is mixed with poison. People are facing difficulty in breathing both day and night.
AQI in ‘very poor’ category in capital areas
The Air Quality Index (AQI) has reached ‘Very Poor’ category in most areas of Delhi. The worst situation was seen in Wazirpur (389), Rohini (381), Ashok Vihar (376), Sirifort (369), and Sonia Vihar (365). Whereas in areas like Mandir Marg (336), Punjabi Bagh (359) and RK Puram (361) the air is also very bad. The situation is a little better in areas like Wazirpur – 389 AQI, Rohini – 381 AQI, Sirifort – 369 AQI, Punjabi Bagh – 359 AQI, Mandir Marg – 336 AQI, IGI Airport (297) and Lodhi Road (256), but the air still remains in the ‘Poor’ category.
Chance of clouds and drizzle in Delhi
According to the Meteorological Department, there is a possibility of rain in the hilly areas of North India due to the effect of Western Disturbance. Due to this, Delhi and surrounding areas may remain cloudy throughout the day and there may be light rain at some places. The maximum temperature is expected to be between 27 to 29 degrees Celsius and the minimum temperature is expected to be between 17 to 21 degrees Celsius. The fog will be denser in the morning, while visibility is likely to be affected in the afternoon also.
Pollution will remain a headache
According to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), at present there is no possibility of any major change in the weather till November 4. Wind speed will be limited to 10 km per hour, due to which the pollution level will not come down. Experts say that cold and slow winds together are making the air more poisonous in Delhi-NCR. At present, there is no hope of ‘clean air’ in the capital before next week.
