Children high triglycerides India: The new report on the health of children in India has put up the shocking figures. According to a report called “Children’s in India, 2025”, one of every three children aged 5 to 9 in the country is struggling with high triglycerides. This problem can increase the risk of heart disease and stroke in children from an early age.
The most affected children in Bengal
According to the report, the highest number of cases in this age group have been found in West Bengal, where 67 percent of children were found to have high triglycerides. This is followed by Sikkim (64.6 percent), Assam (57 percent), Nagaland (55.5 percent) and Manipur (54.7 percent). At the same time, this ratio is the lowest in Kerala (16.6 percent). If we look at the average of the country, 34 percent of the children are affected by high triglycerides, that is, one in every three children are facing this problem.
Status in teenagers a bit better
The percentage of high triglycerides was found relatively low in children between 10 and 19 years of age. In this group, 16 percent of children were recorded in high triglycerides and high LDL for less than 4 percent. However, Bengal (42.5 percent), Sikkim (39.4 percent) and Manipur (38 percent) were also the most affected in this age group. Whereas in Maharashtra (6.4 percent), the least children were found to be struggling with this problem.
The highest hypertension among children in Delhi
The report also informed that the highest number of hypertension cases have been recorded among children in Delhi. Experts believe that changing lifestyle, excessive intake of processed foods and lack of physical activity are the main reasons behind this. According to doctors, high triglycerides and high LDL cholesterol gradually accumulate fat in the arteries in children. This is called atherosclerosis. Over time it makes the arteries narrow and rigid. As a result, the risk of heart diseases and stroke increases. If these problems are not identified on time and dietary changes, regular exercise and healthy lifestyle are not adopted, then it can lead to serious health problems later.
Warning for parents
Experts say that it is very important to promote regular health screening of children, attention to eating and drinking habits and promoting outdoor activities. Making away from junk food and sugar drinks and emphasizing fruits, vegetables and fiber diets can improve children’s health.
