25-year-old Kamal, who was riding a bike, died in an open deep pit dug by the Delhi Jal Board in Janakpuri. This accident happened on Thursday (5 February) night while returning home from Rohini. When Kamal was going towards his home in Kailashpuri. The family spent the whole night making rounds of police stations, but in the morning his body and bike were recovered from the pit.
After the death of 25 year old Kamal, Congress has now fiercely attacked the BJP government of Delhi. Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee President Devendra Yadav termed this as clear evidence of government negligence and demanded immediate compensation of Rs 1 crore to the family of the deceased. Also, immediate resignation has been sought from Janakpuri MLA and Minister Ashish Sood.
Youth died due to negligence of Delhi Jal Board – Devendra Yadav
Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee President Devendra Yadav said that the bike rider fell straight into the pit in the dark of night. There was no barricading, no warning signs. This death occurred completely due to the negligence of Delhi Jal Board. If barricading had been installed, a soldier would not have lost his life.
Taking aim at Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, he said that the roads are full of potholes in the government which beats the drum of ‘developed Delhi’. Last year, 89 deaths occurred in water-filled pits and drains. More than 1600 lives were lost in road accidents. 11 people also died in the monsoon of 2025.
CM should dismiss the responsible officers- Congress
The Congress leader further said that no lesson was learned from the death of Yuvraj Mehta in Noida. Projects worth crores are announced, but the situation on the ground is worse than bad. Devendra Yadav demanded that the Chief Minister immediately dismiss the responsible officers. Get a high level investigation done and take the resignation of Minister Ashish Sood.
