One of these schemes, Delhi Government is running Delhi Family Benefit Scheme to provide relief to the poor families living in the capital in times of sorrow. Under this scheme, if the main earning member of a family dies, then a lump sum financial assistance of Rs 20 thousand is given to the family by the government, so that they can get some relief in this time of grief.
Which families get the benefit of this scheme?
The benefit of this scheme is given to those families in which the highest earning member of the family has passed away. This member can be male as well as female. At the same time, this assistance amount is given by the government only once. BPL card holding families can take advantage of the scheme. In this scheme, the amount given by the government is sent directly to the bank account of the beneficiary. Payment is made through the PFMS portal after linking it to Aadhaar and the bank account, due to which the money is transferred directly to the account.
What is the eligibility for the scheme?
- For this scheme, the age of the deceased should be between 18 to 60 years.
- The deceased person should be the main earning member of the family.
- The applicant must be a resident of Delhi for at least 5 years.
- The annual income of the family should not exceed Rs 1 lakh.
- It is necessary to have Aadhar card.
- There should be a single operated account in a bank located in Delhi.
How to apply?
Application for this scheme can be made both online and offline. The applicant can register through Citizen Login by visiting the e-District portal. Apart from this, application can also be made by visiting the concerned District Social Welfare Office.
