The Delhi High Court has stayed the release of the film ‘Udaipur Files’. The film is based on the tailor Kanhaiya Lal murder case and was to be released on 11 July. The court has imposed this stay until the central government takes a decision on the petitions seeking a permanent ban on the film.

Delhi High Court said this

The bench of Delhi High Court Chief Justice DK Upadhyay and Justice Anish Dayal directed the petitioners to take their complaint and go to the central government within two days. These petitioners are the ones who are accused in the Kanhaiya Lal murder case. He argued in the court that the release of the film would affect his fair trial (judicial process). The court said that the petitioners have not yet resorted to the measures available with the central government.

Delhi High Court ordered central government

The Delhi High Court said that since we are asking the petitioners to adopt revision measures, we instruct that the release of the film will be stopped until the decision is made by the government on the plea of ​​interim relief. The Delhi High Court asked the Jamiat Ulema Hind to appeal to the Central Government within two days, after the same appeal was filed, within 7 days, the central government has asked the central government to take a decision on the release of the film.

NIA investigated the case in the year 2022

Udaipur resident tailor Kanhaiya Lal was murdered in June 2022. Mohammad Riyaz and Mohammad Gaus have been accused in this case. The accused had released a video after the murder stating that this action was taken to share social media posts in support of former BJP leader Nupur Sharma. The case was checked by the National Investigation Agency and a case was registered against the accused under strict illegal activities Prevention Act and sections of the Indian Penal Code. Currently, this case is pending in a special NIA court in Jaipur.
