Delhi government has taken an important decision which will provide great relief to the general public, businessmen and the working class. ‘Delhi Jan Vishwas Bill’ has been approved in the cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta. This bill will be presented in the winter session of the Delhi Assembly starting from January 5. The government says that this law will be implemented after it is passed by the Assembly.
Under this bill, 8 categories of small and minor criminal violations related to industry, business, shops, labor and establishments will be removed from the criminal category and converted into civil cases. This means that now there will be no fear of jail or punishment in such cases, rather the cases will be settled through warning or fine.
What is Delhi Jan Vishwas Bill?
The purpose of Delhi Jan Vishwas Bill is to provide relief to the common people and small businessmen from unnecessary legal troubles. Till now, many such minor violations, such as registration mistakes, deficiencies in records, technical errors or minor violations of rules, fell under the criminal category. In these cases, there would be FIR, court and even jail, due to which the businessmen and working class were troubled mentally and financially.
‘Not punishment, emphasis on solution’
After the implementation of this new bill, only warning or fine will be imposed instead of punishment in these 8 categories of cases. This will reduce the burden on the courts and people will be able to do their work without fear. The government believes that the system will run better with trust instead of fear.
Business and employment will get a boost
Delhi government says that this step will promote ease of doing business. Small shopkeepers, startups, factory owners and workers will be able to follow the rules without any fear. This will not only make business easier but will also create new employment opportunities.
The central government has already brought such a law
It is noteworthy that the Central Government has also earlier removed many minor crimes from the category of crime under the Public Trust Act. Moving in the same direction, Delhi government is taking this big step at the local level.
government message
Delhi government has a clear message that honest people will not be harassed but it will be necessary to follow the rules. Where earlier there was fear of jail, now the path of understanding and solution will be adopted. Now all eyes are on the winter session where after being passed from the Assembly, the Delhi Public Trust Bill can become a law of relief for the people of Delhi.
