Delhi Janakpuri accident committee formed to investigate, brother of the deceased made serious allegations against the police

The case of death of bike riding youth Kamal in a tragic accident in Janakpuri area of Delhi is in the headlines. This accident allegedly happened due to falling into an open pit on the road. Family and friends allege that this is a case of complete administrative negligence. Seeing the matter increasing, Delhi Jal Board has also formed an inquiry committee regarding the matter. A report on the matter has been sought by this evening.

This accident happened at night on 5th February, but effective search and information was not given at any level till morning. The victim’s side says that if the police and related departments had been active on time, Karan’s life could have been saved.

Brother of the deceased said- this is sheer negligence

Karan, brother of deceased Kamal, told that when they last talked, Karan had said that he would reach home in 10 minutes. When the call was made again at around 12.30 in the night, the phone was not picked up. After this, concern increased and the family started searching for him. First of all they went to his office in Rohini, then reached Janakpuri police station.

The police only told him his last location and said that this is his location, search it yourself within 200 meters, but no concrete help was found on the spot. Brother Karan says that he kept searching continuously and even reached near the pit at 1.30 in the night, but Karan was not seen there at that time. Despite this, no siege or search operation was conducted.

Police said complaint will be filed only after 24 hours – Brother

Another brother of the deceased said, “Last night around 11:30 pm, we spoke to him. He said that they had reached DC Center and it would take them 15 minutes to reach home… After 30 minutes, we called him 10 times, but he did not answer. We got worried and went out to search for him, but could not find him.”

He further said, “When we went to Janakpuri police station to lodge a complaint, they said that the complaint can be lodged only after 24 hours. In a statement given to IANS, he said, ‘We requested them to please track his phone while it was ringing. They found the location and sent it to us, but then deleted it… When we went again, they said that they cannot give us the location again as it is confidential information. “

Police asked to search themselves- friend

Kamal’s friends have also raised serious questions on the administration. A friend said that they kept wandering here and there the whole night and the police themselves asked to search. The family had to repeatedly lie that Karan was in the hospital and was not being allowed to meet, so that his mother would not panic. Friends allege that this is not just an accident but a failure of the system. An open pit was left on the road, there was neither barricading nor warning on it. According to PTI, friends said that if information had been given after searching at night itself, then at least there could have been a chance for treatment.

In the morning, when the family called Karan’s number again, the police picked up the phone and informed that the body had been recovered from the pit. This news was the biggest shock for the family. Brother said that Kamal was not a careless or crazy person who would deliberately fall into the pit. He told that help was sought in at least six police stations, but no support was received from anywhere.
