Delhi Missing People: Police statement on missing people in Delhi, ‘No involvement of any gang’

The official statement of the police has come out on the figures of missing people in Delhi. Delhi Police Joint Commissioner Sanjay Tyagi said that there is no reason for any kind of panic or fear regarding missing persons, especially children. There has been no increase in reporting of missing persons in Delhi as compared to earlier. In fact, in the month of January 2026, there has been a decrease in the cases of reporting of missing persons compared to the same period in previous years.

‘Efforts are made to immediately trace the missing persons’

Delhi Police said that reports of missing persons can be lodged not only in the local police station, but can also be lodged online and through ERSS-112. Following the prescribed SOP, Delhi Police makes efforts to immediately trace the missing persons in all these cases, with special priority being given to the cases of missing children. In this regard, dedicated missing person squads and anti-human trafficking units are working in the crime branch in all the districts, so that focused and effective action can be ensured in this matter.

There is no involvement of any organized gang – Police

Police clarified that the involvement of any organized gang has not come to light in the cases of missing and kidnapping of children in Delhi. The police appealed to the people not to pay heed to any kind of rumour. Police warned that action will be taken against those spreading rumours.

Delhi became ‘Lapataganj’

The new year of 2026 has started and in the first 27 days Delhi has seen such a shocking figure. According to Delhi Police data, 807 people have gone missing in 27 days. If seen, on an average more than 29 people go missing every day. Of these, the police found 235, which is a good thing, but 572 are still lost somewhere in the darkness. The real shocking thing is that 137 children are included in these. Most of these 137 children are girls.
