Delhi news: Soon a stalled pension of the elderly will be started in Delhi. Social Welfare Minister of the government Ravindra Indraj Singh held a review meeting with officials of Social Welfare Department on Saturday (April 19) regarding the old age pension scheme. In the meeting, the progress of the plan, the status of pending applications and the process of adding new beneficiaries were discussed in detail.

Social Welfare Minister Ravindra Indraj Singh gave instructions that such applications on which objections are registered or whose pension has come back due to some reason, should be disposed of quickly and on priority basis. He also clarified that the role of third party verification and Common Service Center (CSC) of the beneficiaries should be made effective so that the beneficiaries do not have to run unnecessarily.

‘Feedback should be taken from beneficiaries’
Minister Ravindra Indraj Singh directed the officials to link the bank accounts of the beneficiaries to all necessary documents, so that the pension can be uninterrupted under DBT (Direct Benefit Transfer). Also, feedback should be taken from the beneficiaries from time to time. It was informed in the meeting that in this time more than 4 lakh senior citizens are getting the benefit of old age pension scheme in Delhi and more and more citizens will be added soon.

Applications were closed in 2017
Explain that the new applications in the Aam Aadmi Party government under the old age pension scheme were closed since the year 2017, which in November 2024, just before the assembly elections, the AAP government had announced to add 80,000 new beneficiaries and opened new applications, but in today’s meeting, the Social Welfare Minister has ordered a decision on new applications soon so that senior citizens of Delhi can get pension soon.
