In an important case related to the riots that took place in North East Delhi in 2020, the Karkardooma Court has refused to grant relief to accused Shahrukh Pathan. The court rejected his regular bail plea. The court says that considering the seriousness of the case and the circumstances of the allegations, it would not be appropriate to grant bail to the accused at this time. This decision was given by Additional Sessions Judge Sameer Bajpai.

The lawyer appearing for the accused in the Karkardooma court argued that Shahrukh Pathan has been in judicial custody for a long time and the hearing of the case is also taking time. Therefore he should be released on bail. The lawyer said that the accused has been in jail for many years and the trial is still going on. However, the court did not consider these arguments sufficient and rejected the bail petition. The court said that the allegations made in the case are serious and giving relief to the accused at this stage would not be in the interest of justice.

Accused accused of pointing pistol at policeman

Shahrukh Pathan is currently lodged in Tihar Jail. Charges have been framed against him in two separate cases related to the North-East Delhi riots. The most famous case among these is the one in which he was accused of pointing a pistol at a policeman during the riots. The pictures and videos of that time had become quite viral on social media.

The accused is accused of conspiring to murder

Police allege that during the riots on 24 February 2020, Shahrukh Pathan had threatened Head Constable Deepak Dahiya by pointing a pistol at him. Apart from this, he is also accused of being involved in the conspiracy to murder a person named Rohit Shukla. According to Delhi Police, the accused was arrested on 3 March 2020 from Shamli district of Uttar Pradesh. 53 people died and hundreds were injured in these riots. The hearing of the case is currently going on and Shahrukh Pathan will have to remain in jail for now.
