Delhi: Yamuna level is scaring again! River flowing above danger mark, agencies on alert mode

The water level of Yamuna in Delhi has once again reached above the danger mark. Yamuna level was recorded at 205.33 meters on Monday morning (1 September), while the warning level is 204.5 meters and the danger level is 205 meters.

Due to continuous rains and water released from neighboring states, the situation can become more serious, on which the government and agencies are on alert mode. At the same time, a warning of heavy has been issued by the Meteorological Department in the coming days.

Keep an eye on the situation, arrangements for relief camps

The administration has installed tents in Delhi-Meerut Expressway and Mayur Vihar area to deal with the flood-like situation. In these tents, people living in low -lying areas along the Yamuna are being temporarily shifted. The old railway bridge at this time remains the most important point of monitoring the flow and danger level of the river.

Heavy rains and water being released from barrage made challenge

The biggest reason behind the rising water level of Yamuna is the water being released from Hathinikund in Haryana and Wazirabad barrage in Delhi. According to PTI, about 53,950 cusecs of cusecs is being released from Hathinikund and 51,210 cusecs of water from Vazirabad.

Usually, the water released from the barrage reaches Delhi in 48 to 50 hours, but this time the situation is deteriorating rapidly due to excess water release. The Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted heavy rains on September 1, Monday, which can make the situation even more worrisome.

People will be shifted as soon as they reach 206 meters

The flood control department says that the situation is constantly being monitored and all agencies have been instructed to take precaution. As soon as the level of Yamuna rises, people will be immediately shifted to safe places as soon as they reach above 206 meters.

The officials have appealed to the Delhiites not to pay attention to the rumors and follow the administration’s instructions. Experts believe that if the rainfall intensifies in the next 48 hours, then the level of the river can go up further.
