Venezuela’s main opposition leader Maria Corina Machado has received this year’s Nobel Peace Prize for fighting for democratic rights in her country. However, Congress in India has become excited about this. Congress spokesperson Surendra Rajput on Friday (October 10, 2025) enumerated many similarities between Maria and Rahul Gandhi.
The Congress spokesperson suggested that he (Rahul Gandhi) also deserves this prestigious honor for fighting to save the Constitution in India. Rajput shared a picture of him (Rahul Gandhi) with Machado and wrote, “This time the Nobel Peace Prize has been given to the Venezuelan opposition leader for protecting the Constitution. India’s opposition leader Rahul Gandhi is leading the fight to save the country’s Constitution.”
Norwegian Nobel Committee chose Machado
The Norwegian Nobel Committee has honored Machado for his unwavering commitment to promoting democratic rights and advocating for a peaceful transition from dictatorship to democracy in Venezuela. Despite facing threats and being forced into hiding after last year’s election, Machado has been a unifying symbol of Venezuela’s opposition.
This time the Venezuelan opposition leader has received the Nobel Peace Prize for protecting the constitution.

Congress counted the works of Rahul Gandhi
Congress in India has been continuously saying that Rahul Gandhi has waged a war against the dictatorship of the current NDA government as he has in recent times raised issues like vote theft, deliberate deletion of names of voters from the voter list of Bihar, EVM hacking to benefit BJP and its allies in the elections, alleged attempts to end reservation for backward classes, etc.
The entire opposition in India has stood behind the Congress by forming the India Bloc to challenge the BJP-led NDA and the current BJP government at the Center and in various states. The opposition claims that unemployment is increasing, the country’s economy has been damaged, the rights of minorities and SC/STs have been compromised and those raising their voices are being suppressed.
The opposition, led by Rahul Gandhi, has alleged that democracy and democratic values have died in India under the NDA government and Congress leaders are fighting to save them.
