According to the report of the Associated Press, at least 62 people have been killed so far in these demonstrations that started last month. On Friday, state media blamed terrorist agents of America and Israel for inciting violence regarding anti-government protests.
Khamenei’s target on Trump
Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei strongly criticized US President Donald Trump, calling him arrogant and alleging that his hands are stained with the blood of Iranians. In Iran, these demonstrations, which started in two markets of Tehran on December 28, 2025, turned into a nationwide movement in protest against rising inflation and the falling value of the rial, as dissatisfaction against the theocratic government led by Khamenei grew.
Iran’s state media had kept silence on the death toll, but broke its silence on Friday and said without giving any information that there had been casualties. The number of deaths has been continuously increasing since the beginning of the movement last month.

The US-based Human Rights Activist News Agency (HRANA) reported that more than 65 people have been killed in nationwide demonstrations in Iran. These demonstrations entered the 13th day on 9 January. According to the report, these demonstrations have spread to 512 places in 180 cities in 31 provinces of Iran. The country’s Ministry of Information and Communication Technology said that the decision to shut down the Internet was taken by the competent security authorities in view of the current circumstances of the country.

According to the website of Dubai Airport, at least 17 flights between Dubai and Iran have been cancelled. In view of the ongoing unrest in Iran, Turkish Airlines also canceled many flights passing over Iran.
